WITL, WFMK, 97.5 NOW FM, WMMQ, WVFN, & WJIM-AM present on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 The Second Annual Battle of the Batter.

Pink Dessert Wars will take place at the University Club of Michigan State University from 6p-8p. Thirty of Mid-Michigan’s area bakeries, caterers, pastry shops and restaurants wil compete for prizes and awards using the dessert of their choice while incorporate the color pink or an edible ribbon in there dessert to bring awareness to the fight against Breast Cancer. Competitors will be eligible for the Judges Choice, People’s Choice, the Pink Table Award and they can compete for the Pioneer Award As Well.

The Judges Choice Award-This award will be given to the company that receives the highest score from our panel of judges during a blind taste test. The winner will receive a radio advertising package from Townsquare Media Lansing and Battle Of The Batter Judges Choice Award.

The People’s Choice Award-Listener/customers will vote by paper ballot while at the event for their favorite dessert. The winner will receive a radio advertising package from Townsquare Media Lansing and Battle Of The Batter People's Choice Award.

The Pink Table Award-This award will be given to the company with the best table design. Participant must use pink and/or breast cancer awareness as the theme for their table.

The Pioneer Award-This award will be given to the company who uses the highest percentage of Michigan made food products (30% required to be eligible).

$2.00 of your ticket purchase will benefit Susan G. Komen Mid-Michigan. 

Susan G. Komen Mid-Michigan is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. This year, Komen Mid-Michigan funded 7 community grants totaling over $218,000! The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) helps to fund cutting-edge national breast cancer research.

Komen Mid-Michigan’s service area covers Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston, Shiawassee, and Washtenaw counties.  Thanks to the thousands of people who participate in the Komen Mid-Michigan Race for the Cure and Ride for the Cure, dedicated corporate partners and generous donors, Komen Mid-Michigan is playing a vital role in fighting breast cancer in our community.
